The Göscheneralp reservoir and dam below the rocky Alpine peaks
Göscheneralp reservoir, the destination of the valley climb from Göschenen.

Andermatt connects the Furka, Gotthard and Oberalp roads, with Susten and Göscheneralp reached through the valley to the north. Stay in one place and choose from five climbs, allowing for the ride or transfer to each starting point and the return to your accommodation.

Where each climb starts

Oberalp and Gotthard start in Andermatt. Furka starts farther west in Realp, while Susten starts in Wassen and Göscheneralp climbs from Göschenen. The comparison covers those individual ascents; the connecting valley roads and return journeys add distance and climbing to your day.

Choose four or five riding days

Oberalp is the shortest of the four pass ascents in this selection. Follow it with a choice of Furka, Gotthard and Susten, keeping a free day or replacing a pass ride with the road to Göscheneralp. Plan each as a complete outing before linking passes into a larger circuit.

Gotthard from the north

The selected Gotthard profile begins in Andermatt, on the northern side. The famous cobbled Tremola hairpins climb from Airolo on the southern side. Although the catalogue name mentions Tremolapass, this is not the classic Airolo ascent; use the map to follow the selected road.

Göscheneralp and seasonal pass roads

Göscheneralp is a valley ascent towards the reservoir, with the return along the same road rather than over a through pass. Check current local road openings before planning high-pass days: conditions determine access to Furka, Gotthard, Oberalp and Susten.

Compare the other sides

The Swiss passes collection adds Grimsel, Nufenen and the western Furka approach from Gletsch, alongside Susten from Innertkirchen. Those starts lie across the mountains from Andermatt. Use them to compare directions or plan a different base, allowing for every connecting pass and the return.

Average gradient describes the recorded route as a whole. Open a climb to see its elevation profile and how the gradient changes along the road.
