Explore six climbs across Ariège: Péguère, Agnès, Port de Lers, Latrape, Core and Plateau de Beille. Choose between the valleys around Massat and the Couserans or a separate outing towards Les Cabannes for Beille. This is a regional comparison, rather than six climbs beside one base.

Choose a valley before a base

Massat is the start for Péguère and the selected Agnès approach. Port de Lers starts on the Vicdessos side, Latrape in Sérac, Core in Les Bordes-sur-Lez and Beille in Les Cabannes. These starts span several valleys. Choose which climbs to combine before deciding on accommodation or transfers.

Péguère and Port de Lers

Both passes featured in the Tour de France’s 2022 stage to Foix. Péguère’s profile from Massat includes the steep final wall; Port de Lers climbs from Vicdessos on the other side of the massif. The descent and valley connections between them belong in the plan for a combined ride.

Agnès, Latrape and Core

Agnès is the longer approach from Massat, rather than the climb from Aulus-les-Bains. Latrape starts in Sérac on the Ustou side. Core starts farther west in Les Bordes-sur-Lez. Regional cycling circuits link these passes, but their complete distance and climbing exceed the individual profiles shown here.

A different Pyrenean destination

Tourmalet, Hautacam and the climbs around Argelès-Gazost and Luz-Saint-Sauveur lie farther west. Use the Pyrenees collection for that base, or stay in Ariège for the roads on this page. Visiting both areas needs a separate plan for moving between them.

Plateau de Beille from Les Cabannes

Beille adds a summit-road ascent from Les Cabannes, farther east than the Massat and Couserans climbs. The regional tourism guide treats it as a separate outing from the route along the Ariège valley. The descent returns down the approach road; Beille is not a through pass linking two valleys.

Average gradient describes the recorded route as a whole. Open a climb to see its elevation profile and how the gradient changes along the road.
