All collections

The Col des Aravis road below limestone mountain walls
Col des Aravis, reached here from Le Grand-Bornand.

Le Grand-Bornand is the starting point for two different climbs in this selection: Aravis and Colombière. Croix Fry from Saint-Jean-de-Sixt, Aravis from Flumet and Romme from Le Reposoir add other sides and starting valleys.

Compare the climbs

5 selected routes, from 6.2 km to 11.8 km, with 357 m to 688 m of elevation gain.

Start around Le Grand-Bornand

Aravis and Colombière head towards different passes from the same village. Croix Fry starts in nearby Saint-Jean-de-Sixt. Allow for that connection and your return when building a day; these recorded ascents do not already include a complete loop from your accommodation.

Keep the side attached to the name

Aravis from Flumet is the opposite approach to the Le Grand-Bornand profile. Romme starts in Le Reposoir here, rather than the steeper, better-known race approach from Cluses. Do not apply another side’s gradient or assume the selected Romme route reproduces a Tour stage.

Average gradient describes the recorded route as a whole. Open a climb to see its elevation profile and how the gradient changes along the road.
